Armed with information about the fisheries under its management, the Deepwater Group is developing fisheries plans in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries that incorporate best practice and scientific information. Accurate data and detailed analysis lead to strategic decisions that favourably influence the future viability of the fisheries.

This information is used in transparent and collaborative processes involving government, interested parties from the community (for example, environmental NGOs) and the seafood industry to develop regimes and practices, both mandatory and voluntary, to ensure fisheries are well managed.

The Deepwater Group represents the interests of the shareholder companies dependent on sustainable utilisation of our fisheries resources in all MFish and DOC working groups. It also has flexibility through management structures and the continued pursuit of innovation.  Some examples include:
